fundamentals of transformer theory and operation.
The transformer is one of the most reliable pieces of
electrical distribution equipment . It has no moving parts, requires minimal maintenance, and is capable of withstanding overloads, surges, faults, and physical abuse that may damage or destroy
other items in the circuit. Often, the electrical event that burns up a motor, opens a circuit breaker, or blows a fuse has a subtle effect on the transformer. Although the transformer may continue to operate as
before, repeat occurrences of such damaging electrical events, or lack of even minimal maintenance can greatly accelerate the evenhml failure of the transformer. The fact that a transformer continues to operate satisfactorily in spite of neglect and abuse is a testament to its durability. However, this durability is no excuse for not providing the proper care. Most of the corrected by a comprehensive maintenance, inspection, and testing program. | | | Filesize: | 3.65 MB | | Added on: | 04-Aug-2009 | | Downloads: | 0 | | Category: | Other Engineering Related / Ebooks
Electrical:Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipment Cooling | | Description: | This subcourse is the last of four subcourses devoted to basic instruction in refrigeration and air conditioning.
The scope of this subcourse takes in unit components of the absorption system, including their functions and
maintenance; water treatment methods and their relationship to centrifugal systems; centrifugal water pumps and electronic
control systems, including the relationship of amplifier, bridge and discriminator circuits to electronic controls. | | | Filesize: | 5.53 MB | | Added on: | 05-Aug-2009 | | Downloads: | 0 | | Category: | Other Engineering Related / Ebooks
Electrical:AIR POLLUTION CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR BOILER AND INCINERATORS | | Description: | This manual is designed to facilitate the identifica-
tion of air pollutant emission rates, and the selection of
control equipment required to meet local, state, and
federal compliance levels. Presented herein are fuel
classifications, burning equipment types, emission rate
factors, emission measuring techniques, control equipment types, and control methods. Also included are discussions of stack dispersion techniques, and control equipment selection. | | | Filesize: | 2.16 MB | | Added on: | 06-Aug-2009 | | Downloads: | 0 | | Category: | Other Engineering Related / Ebooks
Electrical:Personal protective grounding for electric power facilities and power | | Description: | This Facilities Instructions, Standards, and Techniques (FIST) Volume is to establish clear and consistent instructions and procedures for temporary grounding of deenergized and isolated high-voltage equipment (over 600 volts) for the purpose of bare hand contact. This FIST applies to those facilities of the Federal power and water systems for which the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) and its contractors and agents are responsible, and includes power and pumping plants, switchyards and substations, and transmission lines. A current copy of this document shall be readily available at each Reclamation office
and facility and to each employee that works on equipment required to be protective
grounded. A quick reference guide to grounding procedure contained in this FIST is presented in flow chart format in appendix G. | | | Filesize: | 1.62 MB | | Added on: | 25-Aug-2009 | | Downloads: | 0 | | Category: | Other Engineering Related / Ebooks
Electrical:Basic Hydraulic Systems and Components | | Description: | This subcourse is designed to provide instruction on the concept and operation of the basic components of the hydraulic system. It also describes the various components of a typical hydraulic system, their
construction and functions, and their relationship to each other.
When the term hydraulics is applied to aircraft, it means a method of transmitting power from one location to another through the use of a confined fluid. The functions performed by hydraulic systems in
aircraft include assisting in flight control, extending and retracting landing gear, positioning flaps, operating hoists, raising and lowering cargo doors, and starting engines.
The hydraulic systems used in Army aircraft are dependable and relatively trouble-free. The maintenance requirements are small in comparison to the work the system performs.

Electrical:The art and science of protective relaying | | Description: | We usually think of an electric power system in terms of its more impressive parts–the big generating stations, transformers, high-voltage lines, etc. While these are some of the basic elements, there are many other necessary and fascinating components. Protective relaying
is one of these. | | | Filesize: | 2.76 MB | | Added on: | 31-July-2009 | | Downloads: | 1 | | Category: | Other Engineering Related / Ebooks
Electrical:Antenna Systems Guide | | Description: | Radio communications are essential to the operations of Federal, State, and local law enforcement and correction agencies. Effective and reliable communications systems not only enable personnel to perform their functions efficiently, but also help ensure their safety. It is, therefore, very important that all components of a radio communications system be selected and integrated to produce an effective design.Understanding the capabilities and limitations of a communications system ensures that it is used most effectively and that performance expectations are realistic.

Electrical:Integrated and automation of manufacturing system | | Description: | Integrated manufacturing uses computers to connect physically separated processes. When integrated, the processes can share information and initiate actions. This allows decisions to be made faster and with fewer errors. Automation allows manufacturing processes to be run auto-
matically, without requiring intervention.

Elcetrical:Modern signal processing | | Description: | Abstract. Underlying many of the current mathematical opportunities in
digital signal processing are unsolved analog signal processing problems. For instance, digital signals for communication or sensing must map into an analog format for transmission through a physical layer. In this layer we meet a canonical example of analog signal processing: the electrical engineer’s impedance matching problem. Impedance matching is the design of analog signal processing circuits to minimize loss and distortion as the signal moves from its source into the propagation medium. This paper works the matching problem from theory to sampled data, exploiting links between H∞ theory, hyperbolic geometry, and matching circuits. We apply J. W. Helton’s significant extensions of operator theory, convex analysis, and optimization theory to demonstrate new approaches and research opportunities in this fundamental problem.
