WFuel cell handbook | | Description: | Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert chemical energy in fuels into electrical energy
directly, promising power generation with high efficiency and low environmental impact.
Because the intermediate steps of producing heat and mechanical work typical of most
conventional power generation methods are avoided, fuel cells are not limited by thermodynamic
limitations of heat engines such as the Carnot efficiency. In addition, because combustion is
avoided, fuel cells produce power with minimal pollutant. However, unlike batteries the
reductant and oxidant in fuel cells must be continuously replenished to allow continuous
operation. Fuel cells bear significant resemblance to electrolyzers. In fact, some fuel cells operate
in reverse as electrolyzers, yielding a reversible fuel cell that can be used for energy storage.

User Chemical Engineering:Guide for Desiccant Dehumidification Technology | | Description: | Manufacturing industries have used desiccants in various applications for over 50 years, but have only recently begun to apply desiccant dehumidification systems (DDSs) to Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) applications.
Depending on climate and facility loading, a high percentage of a building’s cooling load can be latent (moisture) load. Conventional cooling equipment operates at low temperatures to cool the air to its dew point temperature, where dehumidification
via condensation on the coils begins. It may then be necessary to reheat the air to a comfortable temperature before it enters the occupied space. DDSs, by contrast, remove water from the air by using a desiccant, or chemical drying agent. DDSs offer several benefits when used in conjunction with air-conditioning systems.
Removing moisture from the air by desiccation decreases the amount of vapor- compression energy needed to dehumidify the air being supplied to the user, and increases the comfort level in the conditioned space. Desiccant systems also decrease moisture accumulation in ducts and around coils, inhibiting the growth of mold and
mildew.

Security Engineering Electronic Security Systems | | Description: | Description: This UFC (Unified Facilities Criteria) document provides guidance on how to design electronic security systems required by the current antiterrorism/force-protection environment. Electronic security systems consist of access control systems (card reader systems), closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, intrusion detection systems, data transmission media systems (a means to communicate information internally and externally to DoD sites), and provision of local or regional dispatch centers (also known as security command
centers). Electronic security systems are one part of an overall physical security plan. This document provides guidance to commanders, architects and engineers on how to design electronic security systems for projects to include new construction, additions, renovations, expeditionary, or temporary construction.

Second Edition Handbook of PE Pipe | | Description: | PE piping, has been successfully utilized for a variety of piping
applications for over 50 years. Despite this relatively short history,
the engineering community has embraced the overall toughness
and durability of PE pipe and the latitude afforded by the variety of
installation methods that can be employed using PE pipe to expand
its use at a quickening rate. | | | Filesize: | 16.37 MB | | Added on: | 09-July-2009 | | Downloads: | 17 | | Category: | Other Engineering Related / Ebooks | | Homepage | | |
Oscillator Resonator Design Tutorial | | Description: | This paper discusses the design of various types of
resonator that form the heart of any oscillator de-
sign. The first section describes the different resonator
types including lumped, coaxial, microstrip and
dielectric. The following section deals with varactor
diodes, including design equations, temperature &
loaded Q performance. In the final section the defi-
nitions of loaded and unloaded Q are described
with a worked example and design techniques on Q
transformations.
