Post subject: Forum Rules (Read before posting)

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact me.

General Rules:

  • Post in the right forum

Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning

  • Descriptive post

There are many willing people here to help you in solving your engineering related questions, but it is most important that you explain your project, situation, idea, etc to the best of your ability allowing those people to give you their best answers. The better describe questions get the better answers.

Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Help me!", "I'm stuck!", "I've got an error!", etc. Examples of good titles include; "Getting an TABLE FULL error upon login", "Cannot restore a backup", etc.

Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts. If you want to thank the replier thank him/her through private messaging.

Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT (typing everything in CAPITAL letter is termed as shouting in internet world) or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will be warned.

  • No abuse or slang to be used!

While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.

  • No advertising, pornography or illegal activities

Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.

Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members. You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal.

We also do not allow posts that are sexual in nature or violate our community standards. The ICE Society team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

  • Other general rules

    • We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.
    • We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules.
    • Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
    • Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of private messaging.

  • Links in Signatures:

Links in signatures must follow these guidelines:

    • Links to the websites related to Engineering field are ok, provided it is not an advertising stunt
    • Promotional text for a commercial product or service is ok, provided there are no price(s) of product(s) or service(s) listed.
    • A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate our community standards. The ICE Society team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs and/or sex.)
Duplicate links to the same URL in a signature are not allowed.

So behave, be nice and fave fun posting on this forum...

(If you notice a post that violates this rule please send a private message to contact me. )

If anyone has any questions/suggestions about these rules please do contact either me or one of the moderators.
