Post subject: Gauge Cock
hi frnds,
can anybody give me exact definition of "Gauge Cock".
as far as i knw its use for isolating the level gauge in case when there is some kind of high pressure and to prevent the fluid from spilling(or rupture of gauge).

Gauge cock is kind of isolation valves.
These are generally avaialble in two types.
Genereal gauge cocks are used as a isolation valves to isolate level gauge from the equipement.
And second type is offset type of gauge cocks. Offset type of gauge cocks allows isolation from both sides. i.e. gauge side and vessel side.
This allows easy isolation of level gauge from equipement. In addition to that, whenever glass of level gauge is broken or leak , the offset type gauge cock isolate level gauge from equipment and prevent glass and other impurities to enter inside the equipment.
