The Host Interoperability Support Test (HIST) Description
The HIST Procedures document (FF-569) provides generic test procedures that would be performed or witnessed by qualified Fieldbus Foundation staff on FOUNDATION fieldbus systems as part of the Host Interoperability Support Testing (HIST).
FF-569 does not intend to define the features and components of a FOUNDATION fieldbus host. Each host is defined by the manufacturer to provide specific functions within a fieldbus network. A host could be a configuration tool, a recording device, alarm display panel, human machine interface or a combination of functionality.
In order to implement a set of applicable test procedures, FF-569 defines a set of generic FOUNDATION fieldbus host features that may be implemented within the host. A host will conform to some, or perhaps all, features as defined by the host feature checklist. However, because hosts can have various definitions, not all features may be applicable to a host implementation. Therefore, it is not expected that every host should support each feature.
Each feature contains a set of test procedures that are to be run against the host or the fieldbus system using the host. In order for a host to claim support of a feature, the host must be able to pass the test procedures defined by the feature. The features themselves are generic, therefore manufactures will derive test cases, or actual implementation steps necessary to meet the requirements of the test procedure.
Many test procedures require both features supported from both the device(s) as well as the host. Test administrators should refer to the HIST Device Data Sheet to determine if the test procedure is applicable to that specific device on the segment.
Feature Feature Requirement Details
A host that meets the feature must be able to:
Device Tag Assignment 1. Assign a PD-TAG
2. Clear a PD-TAG
Device Address Assignment 1. Assign a permanent device address
2. Clear a device address

How do I catch the Fieldbus?
By : Jim Pinto,
San Diego, CA.
USA
A wide variety of networks is available in the industrial automation environment and confusion arises because their capabilities overlap. So, which "fieldbus" should YOU use? It all depends on your needs - cost, speed, complexity, compatibility with already-installed devices and future expansion requirements.

Nice huge link collection for one topic
Post them in our link section too when you get time
Also if possible contact them to get an image for their links and if possible link exchange of our site with them (I will try the same too later)
PM me the companies you will contact so that I should not contact them again
Keep up nice work of posting such good information and will make this place best for engineers |

There are certain confusing terms related to fieldbus devices.
Firmware revision - like an application version, if this is incremented (ie the manufacturer makes changes) that requires the device revision to increment.
Device revision - the overall revision of the device, these should be integers, usually represented by a hexadecimal (ie 0x02)
Device ID - a unique identifier for the device on a FOUNDATION TM Fieldbus network. This is part of an FMS Identify response message. The structure of this number is as follows:
manufIDdevicetypeserialnumber
00012310010001ABC012345678954321
Device Description file revision - each version of the DD should be tested and registered with the Fieldbus Foundation, and are then available to download from our Registered Product Catalog. The file name is made up of two parts, the device revision and file revision, the CFF has an additional file revision:
aabb.ffo aabb.sym aabbcc.cff
aa = device revision
bb = DD file revision
cc = CFF file revision
This is simple description for above terms.
I will put link of dd files for FF devices so you people can manipulate above terms. |
