There is often some confusion on this. Part of the confusion may be that FF does not deal with "firmware version". FF parameters only exposes device revision and DD revision.

Firmware is the embedded software in the device. It handles FF communication but also measurement, actuation, or whatever the device is doing. It is quite possible that changes are made to the device which has nothnig to do with the FF communication. For example, a pressure transmitter may get a new verison with a better temperature compensation algorithm or better diagnostics etc. Therefore you may in fact find that a device type have different firmware version yet may still have the same device revision and DD revision.

When significant changes are done to the device, maybe new hardware, or a change that affects FF communications, the device revision will be incremented.

The DD files have a revision separate from the device itself because it is possible that some anomaly (bug) is detected in the DD file and the manufacturer may need to make a new file.

Similarly, there is also a revision number for the capability file.

It would be nice if there was a standard parameter in the resource block informing the firmware version. SMAR devices have an additional block with parameters containing firmware version and other nice to know information.

I can find only SMAR devices with this type of additional block.

Some nice information H1 profile class

To quote FF-940:"This profile defines the minimum level of communication functionality and features that shall be supported by each of the classes. The functionality and features are chosen in a way to enable the building of fieldbus systems by the mixing of devices of different profile classes from different vendors. The communication functionality and features in each of these profile classes represents a specific combination of functionality and features selected from the Fieldbus Foundation’s Physical, Data Link, FAS, FMS, Network Management and System Management specifications. FF communications stack software can be certified as meeting one or more of these profiles. Devices may also be certified as meeting one or more of these profiles, although proper behavior of the service interfaces enumerated in this document as mandatory for a class can be tested only by inference, and not by direct observation."

A brief explanation of "H1 Profile Class":

Class 31 - Has an FBAP, is a server and will: publish data (P) and/or subscribe to data (S) and/or is a client (C)

Class 32 - link master(L) and/or system time keeper (TM)

Class 33 - supports FMS client functions

Class 34 - supports System and Network Management client functions

Class 35 - provides bridge functions

I guess you have uploaded all the files in download section
Normally when you upload files in download section, it needs staff approval before it can appear in download section
so normally give atleast few hours to max a day before they are approved

Dear Hemant,

Just Now, I had completed uploading all 12 parts of Foundation Fieldbus which covers all aspects of this particular communication protocol.

I think its better to delete from the forum section these 3 files above my answer.

By the way, it depends upon ur wish.

Have a nice time.

One question is there space limitations for each member for uploading files?
