Instrument & Control Specialist

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for maintaining the Plant Gorgas control systems including, but not limited to, providing technical direction for control system design, program configuration, system installation and troubleshooting on distributed/process control systems.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing ongoing inspection and evaluation of control systems and determining the appropriate direction on design and performance improvements, upgrades, and other modifications to plant instrumentation and control systems.
The incumbent will work closely with the Operations Department to identify and correct shortcomings in the plant control systems.
The incumbent shall be the "Subject Matter Expert" on issues surrounding control systems.
The incumbent shall assist the Electrical Maintenance Team Leader in assessing Journeyman skill levels and creating a training program to increase shop-level I&C bench strength. The incumbent may represent the plant on System Committees such as the I&C Technical Forum and applicable controls user groups.
Job Requirements:
•Four-year degree, a two-year Technical Certification, Associate's Degree in electronics (preferred) or equivalent experience is required.
•Extensive experience in electronics, instrumentation, program configuration, distributed / process control systems, PLCs, DCS, plant electrical maintenance is required.
•Strong personal computer skills are required.
•Industrial experience preferred.
•Project management experience is highly preferred.
•Experience with schematic and wiring diagrams is preferred.
•The ability to plan control system migrations for future needs of the plant to provide for reliable boiler controls is required.
•Strong problem solving skills and the ability to make decisions with limited information is required.
•The communication skills necessary to develop and maintain good relationships with operations, maintenance and support personnel are required.
•Demonstrated strong leadership skills and a willingness to challenge the status quo are required.
Job Responsibilities:
•Must provide technical direction for the maintenance, preventive maintenance, tuning and calibration activities necessary to ensure that control systems function properly.
•Maintains adequate and up-to-date backups of all configurations.
•Must lead the design and installation of new equipment and the retrofit of existing equipment.
•Must be able to troubleshoot and develop solutions to repair plant instrumentation and control systems and system protection equipment.
•Must perform periodic inspections of the control rooms to determine the status of equipment, manage a preventive maintenance program for site control systems, develop and manage functional tests for control systems.
•Must be available for call-out responsibilities on a 24-hour basis to address priority maintenance needs.
•Must be knowledgeable of "state-of-the-art technology" and electrical equipment innovations.
•Must provide technical direction in revising unit operations and maintenance procedures.
•Must provide technical direction in writing specifications, installation, and configuration of control systems.
•Must provide feedback to management regarding problems associated with plant and system controls.
•Must conduct investigations to determine causes of trips and similar events and, when appropriate, develop measures to avoid reoccurrence.
•Must take ownership and accountability as a technology owner for I&C equipment. This includes managing and maintaining a budget for I&C expenditures, prioritizing expenses, providing expertise when problems arise, seeking improvements in the equipment operation, reviewing alternative equipment, and providing budgetary input regarding other sytems. |

Eric i changed the contact name to Eric Phillips if you don`t have any problem would you mind giving mail id? its set to our mail id right now because we don`t have any other contact of your`s.
