My client in Columbus, Ohio is an entrepreneurial startup at the forefront of renewable energy technology. Focused on the development of technologies to replace our dependence on fossil fuels, they have created a proprietary method for the purification of silicon used in solar cells. Their mission is to produce more efficient, more economical and more ecologically friendly processes in the creation of solar-grade silicon. They are establishing pilot plant operations in and looking for energetic, innovative and ambitious engineers to help drive growth. Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Position Responsibilities:
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, selection and overseeing implementation of process plant instrumentation and controls systems to support Iosil engineering operations.
· Create and maintain appropriate, value-added company controls systems/instrumentation engineering standards for analog and digital systems.
· Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and controls engineering issues.
· Coordinate detailed design phases for all aspects of instrumentation and controls engineering work.
· Coordinate systems design activities to ensure installations and operations are compliant with specifications and codes.
· Prepare and review detailed calculations for controls applications.
· Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for new systems and instruments.
· Prepare documentation for design input, including master diagrams and master schematics.
· Provide oversight of contractor process design and detail design activities. Review work products to ensure appropriate engineering standards are met.
· Prepare technical reports and studies.
· Identify, acquire or develop appropriate design tools and programs related to discipline.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
· 7+ years of experience in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering role
· 5+ years of experience working with equipment and instrumentation in a chemical production facility.
· Demonstrated experience in the design of instrumentation and controls for heavy industrial plant.
· Demonstrated experience in equipment and materials selection.
· Experience in controls system design.
· Technical expertise and knowledge of available equipment and proven systems to execute systems design.
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated problem solving skills.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
· PE license.
· Construction and start-up experience.
· Experience in a pilot plant production operation.
